In submarine cable constructions, manual handling of the following operations is difficult.
     1) Cables burial for protecting them from damages by fishing activities etc.
     2) Repair of already buried cables in a shallow water area
     3) Cable laying and repair in a deep water area
For these operations, various facilities including robots such as an autonomous underwater vehicle(AUV) and a remotely operated vehicle(ROV) are used.

In Kokusai Cable Ship Co., Ltd.(KCS), the autonomous underwater vehicle, AQUA EXPLORER2000(AE2000) is used not only for the submarine cable installation and maintenance, but also for a wide range of surveys on power cables, pipelines, fishery resources, sea life and the environment.
KCS is actively responding to customers' various needs also in these fields.

AQUA EXPLORER 2000

Is used for surveys on the seabed in advance of cable laying, and on the status of already laid burial cables or of laid non-burial cables.

Cable Burying Machine, PLOW-II

Is towed by the cable ship, and is used for a simultaneous operation of laying and burial of submarine cables.

ROV MARCAS-II

Is used in case that PLOW-II can't be used, or burial cables are re-buried after repairs. The KDD OCEAN LINK is equipped with PLOW-II.

ROV MARCAS-III

Is used in the same manner as MARCAS-II. MARCAS-III has higher power than MARCAS-II. The KDDI PACIFIC LINK is equipped with MARCAS-III.

Cable Probe

By using the cable probe, we confirm, a location and depth of a buried submarine cable in a shallower water area than around 100 meters depth.

Underwater Clamp Meter

By using the underwater clamp meter, we can specify a cable with failure . This is effective especially in an area where many cables are laid.
